Please note GATE Qualifications in any one of the 2017,2018 and 2019 is mandatory for applying as a GATE Qualified candidate. A CGPA greater than or equal to eight from any IIT is necessary to apply as IIT (B.Tech.) graduate

The application fee should be paid online while filling the application form.
Before filling the ONLINE application form, please pay attention to the following:

  1. Carefully read all the instructions given herein.

  2. Study Tables 1, 2, 3 and 4 carefully, along with details of Programmes in Section 3 of M.Tech Information Brochure.

  3. If you satisfy the minimum requirement (Section 2.7 A/B/G1), choose your options from Table 1 (also refer Tables 2,3 & 4) and decide your choices of Programmes.

  4. Note the following additional Suitability Test/ Interview (refer Table 3) requirements for:

  5. ☛ Candidates with XE Gate Paper, applying to AE1 Programme.

    ☛ ZE/ ZS candidates may be considered for admission to the Programmes relevant to the discipline of their qualifying degree as decided by the concerned Departments. If they are considered, they may have to take Suitability Test/ Interview for programmes AE1, AM1, AM2, EE1 - EE6, ME1 - ME3, MM1, OE1 and OE2.

    ☛ Candidates with degrees obtained through Distance Education/Correspondence Mode must take test/ interview for the following Programmes: AM1, AM2, CA1, CH1, MA1, MM1, OE1, OE2, PE1.

    ☛ Candidates with Associate membership (AMIE, AeSI, etc.) applying to programmes AE1, CS1, EE1 - EE6, MA1, ME1 - ME3, OE1, OE2 and PE1.

    If candidates are called for the Suitability Test/ Interview, they need to be present to be considered for that particular Programme. They may have to report to the respective departments on 27th April 2019 (Saturday). Even if candidates do not attend the Suitability Test/ Interview for a particular Programme, they will still be considered for the other Programmes that they have chosen in the application and which do not require Suitability Test/ Interview.

  6. Keep ready the soft copy of the following documents (if applicable) for uploading at the website:
  7. ☛ Image file of the recent passport size photograph*.

    ☛ Image file of the Signature*.

    ☛ GATE Score card# PDF copy of the valid GATE Score.

    ☛ Income certificate# PDF copy for EWS Candidates.

    ☛ Nationality certificate#(Any of the following: Birth Certificate or First page of passport or Voter id or SSLC Certificate or Transfer Certificate (TC) showing Nationality or Certificate issued by approved Govt. agency for Nationality). Please note that Ration Card/ Aadhar Card/ PAN Card/ Domicile certificates are not authentic proof for nationality. therefore, please do not upload them.

    Persons with Disability (PwD)# are required to upload a certificate of disability from the AUTHORIZED MEDICAL BOARD attached to one of the following - Vocational Rehabilitation Centre (VRC) for Physically Handicapped persons/ Special Employment Exchange for Physically Handicapped/ Government Hospital (District and State level).

    ☛ SC/ST Certificate#.

    ☛ OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate#: To consider under OBC category, candidates should upload the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate in the format prescribed by Government of India issued by competent authorities (Click for Format ). Submission of only BC or MBC certificate will not be treated as OBC category. If no valid OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate copy is enclosed, the candidate will be treated under General category.

    ☛ Complete list of courses with syllabi# in case of ZE/ZS candidates

    ☛ ALL Grade Card(s)# till date in case of IIT B.Tech. candidates

    #- Upload scanned pdf file with maximum size of 2 MB. In case of multiple scanned pages merge them into single pdf file not exceeding greater than 2 MB.

    The upload instructions will be available on the online application website.

  8. Exercise utmost care in choosing the order of choices as the process of selection is computerized. An error in the list of choices may even lead to rejection of the application. Also, note that once the choices are made and application is submitted online, they can not be changed.
  9. Complete the application in all respects. No changes in the application are permitted after you submit the application.
  10. Application Fee (per application) should be paid online at the online application website. Please note the following:
  11. ☛ If a candidate wishes to apply using valid GATE 2017, GATE 2018 and GATE 2019 Scores and also through IIT Graduate, separate applications for each GATE Score and IIT Graduate (application fee is per application) must be submitted.

    ☛ If a candidate wishes to apply using valid GATE 2017, GATE 2018 and GATE 2019 Scores, separate applications for each GATE Score (application fee is per application) must be submitted.

  12. After completing the online application form, download the complete application form for safe keeping and record purposes. You need not have to send the hard copy to M.Tech Admission office at IIT Madras.

  1. Before filling the application form, ensure that you satisfy the minimum requirements stipulated in Section 2.7 C. of Information Brochure.

  2. While filling the choices, follow column (3) (Discipline Code) of Table 1. The Programme codes should not end with Y as HTTA is not applicable to the sponsored candidates.

  3. Along with the application form, the candidate should enclose (not stapled) the Sponsorship Certificate, SC/ ST/ OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate (if applicable) and certificate by competent Medical Board for Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates (if applicable).

  4. After completing the online application form, download the complete application form for safe keeping and record purposes.
